So I'm sure if you follow me on Instagram you'll know I have been here there and everywhere recently, but I wanted to post about my recent trip to Amsterdam! I haven't had a day off work since January, so David and I pencilled in a few days for a city trip to Amsterdam. I have been twice with work before, but gone within a matter of 24 hours so I was very excited to spend more time in the city and see what it had in store.

Firstly I would like to mention our amazing hotel, CitizenM. CitizenM is a chain of hotels in locations such as London, New York and Paris. I had heard very good things about this boutique hotel, and I was not let down!

We arrived to a very trendy, check yourself in lobby - and when we got to the room there was a handwritten note offering us cocktails on the house! (bonus points already)

The room was operated by an iPad, the lights, temperature, the TV even the blinds on the window were all dealt with in a swipe. Fancy.

The show stopper in this hotel though is most definitely the bed! It is the biggest bed I've ever had the pleasure of sleeping in, and much needed at the end of a long day walking around the city.

Food highlights

Mexican is up there with one of my fave foods, luckily this restaurant had been recommended to me and I am still daydreamin' about those Nachos! This was at Roses Cantina, where the cocktails are as good as the cuisine!

Breakfast as a whole is one of my fave meals of the day, I could have breakfast for all 3 meals! We were staying the other side of town to The Breakfast Club, but I felt the pancakes would be worth the hike... I wasn't wrong!

Here are some pics of the rest of our trip:

Travel Essentials

I love having a little bag for the airport to house all of my essentials, passport, boarding pass, money etc. Whenever I have big bags it takes me two weeks to find anything due to all the rummaging around!

I am asboslutely in love with these Skinnydip London headphones. As someone who commutes these are an absolute dream, I haven't even had the drama of untangling the wires. Win.

I would go back to Amsterdam in a heartbeat, but now, onto the next city!

3 is the magic number...

Denim, suede and leopard print. 3 of my favourite wardrobe staples. I don’t know about you but I cannot get enough of button through A-Line skirts, and I've had my eye on this suede beauty for a while. I’m still yet to fully part with my tights, but at the moment I just can’t bring myself to bare my legs! The weather cannot make up its mind at the moment, be Summer already!

I'm off to Amsterdam next week for a few days and I'm so excited. I've been twice with work but never stayed long enough to play tourist! I'm already planning outfits in my head. That’s sad isn't it?! Yeah…thought so! If you've been before and have some recommendations please leave a comment below, I’d really appreciate it!

Oasis x V&A

So highstreet powerhouse Oasis and the Victoria and Albert Museum have announced an exclusive capsule collection, which has been born out of a mutual love of print, pattern and colour. The collection launches online this week so get clicking!

The collaboration is based around 11 beautiful botanical prints – all hand-selected from over hundreds in the museum’s archive, by the Oasis in-house design team. I have chosen this beautiful printed kimono, such a stunning pattern and the colours in it are beautiful!

To make things eeeven better, Oasis have appointed Laura Jackson, TV presenter and ultimate fashion crush to front the campaign. (If you don't already follow Laura on Instagram, get to it!)

Lush Love

I have been a fan of Lush since I was a little girl, I always remember going to the store in Chester and being able to smell the shop from 100 yards away. My Mum used to let my Sister and I pick a bath bomb each and I always got so excited.

If you follow me on Instagram (_@alexalamode) you'll see that I'm still quite partial to a bath bomb...

Last week I had a particularly long and stressful work week and decided on my lunch break to pop to Lush and see what I could treat myself to for a pampering Friday night.

I've heard so many good things about the face-masks and scrubs but I had never trialed them out for myself.

These are the products I picked up last week:

(L-R) A French Kiss Bubble Bar, Ocean Salt Face and Body Scrub, Mask of Magnaminty Face Mask

I don't usually do reviews on here, (*disclaimer: I bought these products and all views are my own and honest) but after using these products for under a week and loving the results I had to share them here.

The ocean salt scrub smells amazing (it has limes, vodka, coconut oil and other lovely things) as somebody who has combination skin (oily t-zone with dry patches) this scrub is the dream. It has left my face smooth and my skin clearer after just 3 uses.

I have only used the Mask of Magnaminty once but it felt so refreshing – it’s multipurpose so you put it on as a regular mask, and when you wash it off scrub to use it as an exfoliator. I left it on for about 15 minutes and the peppermint oil smelt so amazing.

I am fully in love with these products and I hope you found this review useful! Leave a comment below if you have any favourite Lush products you'd recommend

Weekend Vibes

I wouldn't necessarily call myself a girly girl as my usual uniform is jeans and a tee, but I felt quite girly in this midi number!

I wore this outfit to a weekend pub lunch  and dressed it down with my striped high neck top and fedora. I'm still obsessed with suede and 70's trend pieces at the moment, so I'm pairing this cropped biker jacket with prrrrettty much every single one of my recent outfits!

I know I haven't been posting on here as much as I'd like recently, I'm going to be putting a lot more time into this little corner of the internet so please do keep coming back and I love reading your comments!

Fields of Gold

After committing myself to a 9am hair appointment in Liverpool, I found myself wandering around the shops which were ghost-like and heavenly! No crowds, no ques, the dream.

I spotted this button down shirt dress on a mannequin in Forever 21 and it looked amazing so I snapped it up and have no regrets! I think it's a great festival piece, shame I'm not going to any this year *sob*

Taken a Bank Holiday stroll with David and his dog Finn and took these snaps, it was rather windy - not great for my hat!

I absolutely love my new round sunglasses from Sunglasses Shop, a brand called London Retro. I am so glad it's finally sunglasses weather! I'm after a pair of Ray-Ban round gold metal sunglasses to add to my ever growing collection.
